Eyes Series

Introducing… A Journey of Art-spiration II : Eyes (2018-2021)

I painted the first series called “Faces” in 2017-2018 while facing a health challenge; was told my eyes could go blind. As I was seeking treatment I saw beautiful scans of my eyes which inspired me to embark on this series called “Eyes.” I wanted to paint as much and as long as I could still see. It was my expression of gratefulness that I have eyes to see and enjoy the myriad of colours, things around us and people we love or new ones we meet everyday.

I also felt a strong urge to write poems for every piece that I painted. Writing poems is a way of rekindling the school days when learning the English language and appreciating English Literature was an important part of my formal education. I sincerely hope that “Eyes” will resonate with you in one way or another and my poems will touch someone’s heart who perhaps share the same philosophy or life experiences.

All praise to the Almighty, I’m well and still able to see and paint up until now. A gift that I pledged to serve humankind in meaningful ways as long as I live.
